SCWO X NAFA X AKZONOBEL

Mural Singapore In celebration of  International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, NAFA fine art alumni (Mandy Zhuang Xue Hong, Khairranis Binte Abdul Ghani, Ishizawa Xinyi, Wong Jia Yi, Karlyna Ardilla Binte Sahrin, Ting Jing Yi, Eunice Foo Xiu Qing, Yunita Rebekah Winata Chandra, Le Huynh Hong Quyen, Kim Hyesu), worked together with SCWO and their corporate partner and supporter AkzoNobel to design a beautiful mural that showcases an eclectic array of orchids. These orchids symbolise how every woman is special in their own way despite their circumstances, as well as encapsulating women's great strength and determination in the face of adversity. 

 

The NAFA alumni were inspired by stories shared by the SCWO team, as well as Akzonobel's Colour of the Year - 'Tranquil Dawn'. The mural design was unveiled and the first touches were done by the guest of honour, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of National Development Ms Sun Xue Ling, SCWO President Dr June Goh, Star Shelter Chair Mrs Wee Wan Joo, AkzoNobel Managing Director, Decorative Paints South East & South Asia Mr Oscar Wezenbeek, Akzonobel Business Director, Marine & Protective Coatings, South Asia Mr Jeff James and NAFA Vice Dean of Fine Art Programme, Ms Sabrina Koh.
